OHL Trans-Nigeria Electrification & Energy Transition Project
The OHL Trans-Nigeria Electrification & Energy Transition Project is one of the seven anchor projects under the MDG Project Nigeria initiative. This project addresses Nigeria's critical power infrastructure needs through sustainable, innovative solutions focused on solar PV manufacturing, LFP battery manufacturing, solar power generation, and biomass power generation.
The project comprises four main divisions across two phases:
Phase 1 Division 1: Solar PV Manufacturing
OHL Energy Limited will operate an integrated solar PV cell and module manufacturing plant, focusing on local production of high-efficiency solar modules from ingot to finished panels.
Phase 1 Division 2: Battery Manufacturing
OHL Energy Limited will operate an integrated LFP battery cell and module manufacturing plant, focusing on local production of high-performance energy storage systems supporting electric vehicles and grid applications.
Phase 2 Division 1: Solar Power Plant
OHL Powergrid Limited will manage the development and operation of 12 streams of 100 MW solar power plants, totalling 1,200 MW capacity, focusing on grid-connected renewable energy generation.
Phase 2 Division 2: Biomass Power Plant
OHL Powergrid Limited will develop and operate a 50 MW biomass power plant, utilising agricultural and forestry waste for sustainable electricity production.
All project implementation companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of GLWD Investment Company Limited and are strategically positioned to support the broader anchor projects while driving Nigeria's transition to clean energy.
